What Causes Cellulitis and Who Is At Risk?Are you starting to notice red, itchy spots on various parts of your body? Has your athlete’s foot started to turn from green to red and become more painful? It sounds serious, and if left untreated, it can become quite an issue – but if you take care of it now and understand the various Cellulitis causes to avoid in the future, it won’t be a big issue. Here is some background information on Cellulitis… What Causes Cellulitis?There are quite a few various Cellulitis causes, but they almost all follow the same simple process – when there is an abrasion on your skin, visible or not, that specific area is very susceptible to invasion by foreign bacteria. The abrasion doesn’t have to be visible to the human eye – in most cases, they are microscopic and not detectable until it is too late. When the bacteria gets into these cracks and makes it under the outer layer of your skin, it starts to cause redness and a very minor infection. In many cases of Cellulitis, there are almost no symptoms. But, sometimes, it starts developing and can turn into a major issue. You May Be At Risk For Developing Cellulitis If…Generally speaking, almost anyone can get Cellulitis as long as they are exposed to one of the Cellulitis causes cited above. (An abrasion in skin with bacteria present) But, there are some people who have a much higher chance of contracting this issue than others. If you are pregnant, have diabetes, or are obese, the decreased blood circulation you experience will greatly increase your risk for this disease. But, things like athlete's foot, insect bites that are ignored, IV drug use and even extremely dry skin all present various risk factors. As long as you stay healthy and take case of your skin, though, you don’t have to worry about Cellulitis. Chances are, you will only know you have a case of Cellulitis until the bacteria has already invaded your body and started to change the color of your skin and cause other visual effects. But, luckily for you, it’s not too late – various Cellulitis causes have been studied by a great number of doctors and scientists, and it is actually quite easy to treat.
